FIAPF is the international organisation representing film producers across the world. The FIAPF Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film celebrates a filmmaker from the region whose career and actions strongly contribute to the development of the film industry.

The 2011 recipient is China’s Zhang Yimou, one of the world’s most acclaimed filmmakers, whose films have opened the eyes of the world to the wonders of Chinese cinema.

Previous recipients of the award are Australia’s George Miller (2007), India’s Yash Chopra (2008),  Japan’s Isao Matsuoka (2009) and Indonesia’s Christine Hakim (2010).

The 2011 FIAPF Award recipient will be announced in the lead up to the fifth annual APSA Ceremony.
